Position Overview

Ultimate Staffing Services is actively seeking a dedicated Local Dispatcher to join a dynamic Final Mile Logistics team in Maryland. This temp-to-hire position offers an exciting opportunity to manage daily routing and dispatch activities in a fast-paced environment. This role is essential for ensuring efficient delivery schedules, providing driver support, and maintaining exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Plan and adjust delivery routes using dispatch software and manage same-day delivery selections.
• Assign routes based on account requirements, DOT compliance, and driver capabilities.
• Provide real-time assistance to drivers during deliveries, resolve issues, and ensure on-time performance.
• Coordinate with warehouse teams for loading schedules and dock assignments.
• Gather and process delivery paperwork, manage PODs, and audit data for accuracy.
• Maintain dispatch sheets for driver miles, certifications, and availability.
• Assist with special projects and support team members as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years in logistics, dispatch, or delivery management (final mile experience preferred).
• Familiarity with routing and traffic patterns in MD, VA, DC, PA, DE is a plus.
• Experience planning and adjusting routes in a last-mile logistics environment.
• Proficiency with dispatch and routing systems; Microsoft Office Suite and Google Sheets.
• Ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Clear, professional communication with drivers and internal teams.
• Team-first mindset with ownership of outcomes.

Required Work Hours

Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
